Reno, NV (MyNews4.com) -- University of Nevada junior center Chris Brown is out indefinitely due to medical reasons, Wolf Pack coach David Carter announced on Friday.

“The most important thing is his health and recovery,” Carter said. “We trust our trainers and doctors to make the best decisions when it comes to our student-athletes and their welfare. We are disappointed that Chris is unable to play at this particular time.”

There is not a specific timetable for Brown’s return at this time. Brown is a 6-foot-11 center who transferred to Nevada this year from Western Texas College.

“Chris has been diagnosed with a serious but treatable medical condition,” Nevada team physician Dr. Carol Scott said. “This diagnosis requires him to take a medication that will not allow him to participate and he will be out indefinitely.  The health and safety of our student-athletes is always a priority and we anticipate him to do well with this course of treatment.”
