CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Nevada state judge says he's got the authority to order an abortion for a pregnant 32-year-old mentally disabled woman, even against the will of her Catholic adoptive parents.

The Las Vegas Sun reports  that Washoe County District Court Judge Egan Walker on Monday asked the Nevada Supreme Court to let him go ahead with hearings Tuesday to collect medical evidence about the woman's case.

The woman's parents want the state high court to stop the proceedings.

They argue that as their daughter's legal guardians, they have exclusive authority over her health care decisions.

The parents want the baby to be born and perhaps offered for adoption.

They say their daughter has the mental capacity of a 6-year-old. She was living at a group home when she became pregnant.

I wonder..... Mental capacity of a 6 year old, reported previous activities. Who is supervising who? The adoptive parents, the group home? Why wasn't something done to prevent the pregnancy in the first place? Lastly who is paying for the present "care" of the mother and the future care of the unplanned pregnancy? I am willing to wager its us...........

Who believes we have not reached the big govt. of Orwell's 1984. Here the state is trying to legitimize the murder of a life simply because the parent does not fit in the mold of what our society thinks is right or normal. There was no crime here. No rape or incest. Two human beings created a life and because the state doesn't like the circumstances it wants to murder the baby. WOW! Where are the ACLU and the liberals now? They should be marching in the streets against this state intrusion into the woman's right to control her body. Oh, they're on the other side of this one. The shear hypocricy of it all.
