LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A turf battle between a southern Nevada rancher and federal land managers is heading for a showdown on remote public land northeast of Las Vegas.

Cliven Bundy of Bunkerville says he watched federal Bureau of Land Management agents and hired hands move cattle round-up equipment Friday past his melon farm, but says he plans to keep fighting to keep grazing in the Gold Butte area.

The BLM posted notice this week that it will collect what it calls "trespass cattle" from more than 900 square miles of hardscrabble land about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

Federal authorities tried before to remove Bundy's livestock, in April 2012.

But Bundy refused to budge.

He's lost federal court rulings since then, and BLM officials say they're ready to resolve the long-standing dispute.

all the Tea Party Ranting does is make it more difficult to discuss common grievances and it limits dialogue.. just like the "town hall meetings" disruption. get a grippe, or ask the UNR Rangeland club, they had a meeting 'bout burning man

speed- U are full of bull-larney. UR tirade isn't based on fact but is just polemic politics speaking. Skipping over educating U about how the 'feds' got "control"; suffice to counter that I have seen these confrontations B4, and often the rancher is just bluffing. Overgrazing is a real issue, and as for fires, the invasion of cheatgrass (from Russia!) is a big reason Y, & this happened B4 there was Any 'fed' grazing agency. U say "our" land, what, no Paiutes, Shoshone, nor Washoe? please, modulate your tone

Seems to me that the Fed-Gov has no Constitutional right to any of that land-it belongs to the people of Nevada. It's the Feds that are trespassing, and we want them off our land NOW. Before they started mismanaging the land of Nevada we didn't have huge range fires that cost millions to fight, and the ranchers were able to graze their cattle in a time tested manner, keeping the cattle fed properly and keeping the undergrowth short enough to stop fires, usually without any human intervention unless there was risk to a residence or other buildings. NOW look at what happens every year;it's become so bad we even have a Season named for it-FIRE SEASON! Let's take OUR land back!

Ithink that Mr. Bundy's main problem is that he's not an oil company that wants to use "fracking".
