RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada regents are scheduled to vote on a new president for the University of Nevada, Reno.
Marc Johnson has been serving as interim president since last spring following the death of Milton Glick. A search committee on Wednesday recommended he take the job permanently.
The state Board of Regents is expected to make the appointment official during a meeting Friday in Las Vegas. A proposed salary and contract terms will be released at that time.
Johnson has been at UNR since 2008, when he was hired as provost. Before that he served as agricultural sciences dean at both Colorado State and Kansas State universities.
Search committee members said Johnson genuinely cares for UNR, and praised his tenacity while leading the school through difficult budget cuts.
