RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - It's been more than two weeks since the new Nevada unemployment insurance system launched and from the start many Nevadans had problems gaining access with the promise things would get better. Still many people are having trouble filing their claims.

Unemployed residents are frustrated and feel they aren't getting the help they need to receive their benefits since the new system launched with some technical difficulties. The Chief of U.I. Operations Jeff Frischmann says the system is state of the art, it's just a matter of fixing a glitch in the security piece and things are improving, “We've had some difficulties implementing that piece of the security, but we believe we have most of those if not all those problems fixed.”

Multiple News 4 viewers who are unemployed say the issue is not fixed. John Goodrich said he finally got through online last weekend, “I got the success signal, but nothing's happened.” Five days after successfully filing online, he has yet to receive any checks. "I'm paying late fees...It's killin' me," said Goodrich. Frischmann says he understands the frustration, "We will back date, and we will pay you for the 3 weeks you are entitled to that, you will not lose your benefits."

Fricshmann says 13,500 people have successfully gone through the system and been able to register with the self-service benefit system, but could not say the number of people that have attempted. When asked if there is a glitch in the system or is there user error Frischmann said, “We're finding that there is a lot of user error as people are becoming accustomed to the new security.” Goodrich says his problems are not user error, “User error? No, I did everything. I have skills, I can make the online work, I can make the phone work.” Frischmann says he still has absolute confidence in the new system.

Multiple unemployed residents telling News 4 of their problems seem to all have different issues including an online username issue and being unable to speak to a real live person about the problem.

There is no specific date set for when the system should be working 100 percent.

I need to add that i got another 3 weeks backpay from them last week after i won my appeal. What i didn't do that kicked me out of their system was to keep calling while i appealed my case. So when i began calling again to reopen my case, after i won my appeal, and couldn't get through for 2 and a half weeks until today, is when the problem began for me. PLEASE someone higher up, HELP Nevadans that aren't able to get through so to feed their families and pay their Bills!

Okay, today i began Serial Dialing them at 8AM and got thru. Now this is when it gets hairy, for from there i ended up on hold, after answering their questionnaire to reopen my case, until 9:21AM. BUT someone came on and got me restarted and also gave me credit for the 2 weeks of trying to get through. So its possible, okay?? GOOD LUCK!

The new system is not working. I don't know anyone that it is working for. I filled 30 days ago and still haven't received a payment. I have filed each week there after and still no luck. News 4 you need to revisit this ASAP it doesn't take much to figure the #s unemployment is at 9.5 the population is 2.75 million so 247,000 people are unemployed. Lets say half are eligible for bennifits. 120,000 people and the say the system is working for 13k something is wrong here and needs to be fixed.

The system is all fine and dandy for people already inside. I have been unemployed since August 16th and they can't seem to get me in. I have done everything they asked me to and wasted several days trying to get through the phone lines. Changed passwords, filed claims and been through my initial interview. Yet I still have not been given any indication as to when I will be able to start to collect. I was told be several people that it takes 21 days to make a decision. By my count I am around 28 business days and 39 actual days. Way to long here and I am about to lose my home and have everything shut off. Nobody on the phones has any idea what is going on or how long it will take, again they all tell me 21 days. I feel like they lost me in the change over. Is this possible?

This is absolutely true. Filing unemployment with the state of Nevada has been an nightmare for me and my family. Calling in at 8am when they're supposed to open but already a busy tone starting at 7:50. If you even manage to get through to the call que system, after a 3hour wait being told that they cannot help you with log in online and only a PIN reset, although IT CLEARLY STATES on the DETR website itself that they can assist you with log in. My problem is not with USER ERROR as DETR representative tried to state to me over the phone. I kept getting a server error, and I tried every solution to mediate this problem. I tried using MAC, PC, Internet Explorer, Chrome, FireFox, cleared my cookies, did pretty much everything DETR suggested to do and still nothing. Last Week, FINALLY I was able to file the unemployment online, which I'm guessing is to DETR finally figuring out their problem that they couldn't resolve 3weeks ago when the system went live. Amazing job DETR, way to roll out this amazing 4year development thats supposed to help us right at the time when people need their checks the most.

So let me get this straight. In another article California is having a computer system problem and Nevada is having generally the same problem. I sure hope both can FIX IT!!!
