New DHHS Deputy Director announced

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Mike Willden, Director of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), has announced the appointment of Amber J. Joiner, as the new Deputy Director of programs for DHHS, effective immediately.

Joiner, previously the Director of Government Relations with the Nevada State Medical Association, brings to DHHS experience in health care policy review and analysis. During her six years at the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau, Joiner provided research and policy analysis for a multitude of committees including the Committee on Senior Citizens, Veterans, and Adults with Special Needs; the Committee on Health and Human Services; and the sub-committee on Services for the Treatment and Prevention of Substance Abuse.

Joiner received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nevada with a dual major in Political Science and Speech Communication. She has a Master of Arts degree from the University of Maryland in Communication, and she is nearing completion of a PhD in Public Administration Health Policy from the University of Nevada.
