RENO, Nev. (AP) — New Interior Secretary Sally Jewell will address the National Congress of American Indians at its mid-year conference this week in Reno.
Jewell is scheduled to speak at the closing session of the conference on Thursday morning at the Atlantis Casino & Resort. The four-day conference begins Monday.
Returning to Reno for the first time in five years, the NCAI will host from 800 to 1,000 citizens, advocates and leaders from tribal nations, communities and government to address the most pressing issues facing tribes.
The conference's annual Tribal Leader/Scholar Forum will feature new research by tribal professionals and students on science, climate change, natural resources, technology, economic development, education and health.
The NCAI is the nation's oldest and largest American Indian and Alaska Native advocacy organization.
