RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- It's the first week on the job for Renown's new President and CEO, Doctor Anthony Slonim. Slonim takes over a hospital system that has seen its share of controversy and legal battles in past years.
On Thursday, Slonim explained why he thinks he is right person for the job. "As a physician myself, I think it's really important, I know what it means to be a physician, I know what it means to be at the bedside. So I keep that approach when I meet with physicians, because I believe that they have important contributions to make to patients and families for them, and make sure they are having the best experience and the best medical care that they can."
Renown's former CEO Jim Miller resigned last year following a lawsuit and a News 4 investigation focusing on the hospital's management practices. The Federal Trade Commission also investigated Renown and found the hospital had created a monopoly on cardiology care in northern Nevada.
