RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - News 4 is learning more about the man facing federal charges involving support to two terrorists groups.  Balwinder Singh, 39, was arrested Tuesday as a result of a lengthy joint investigation by local and federal authorities.  He was indicted by a federal grand jury on Wednesday.  Singh was living at the Lakeview Apartments on Brinkby Avenue in Reno prior to his arrest.   The apartment manager said he was evicted within 24 hours following his arrest.

He is facing numerous charges including conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists.  Prosecutors say he had several identities and he is also facing charges of falsifying an immigration document, immigration fraud and unlawful production of an identification document.  US Attorneys say he is a member of two organizations, referred to as the BKI and KZF.  Officials say the groups he supported used murder, kidnapping and extreme violence in efforts to create an independent Sikh state in Punjab region of India.

Federal prosecutors confirmed today he was working as an independent truck driver in Reno.  One of his neighbors at the complex said he did not know Sighn but was shocked that someone living near him would be facing such serious charges.  David Chavez said, "I had no idea.  That's really scary that something like that could happen here."

If convicted, Singh faces up to life in prison and fines of up to $250,000 on each count.  He is expected to be arraigned in U.S. District Court in Reno on Friday.
