RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Great Reno Balloon Race is almost ready to lift off. Close to 100 hot air balloons will take flight from Rancho San Rafael Park, starting on Friday.

The Regional Transportation Commission is offering bus rides for those who do not want to deal with parking. But for those who do, there is an app for that.

Executive Director Pete Copeland said the new smartphone app will be a big help to spectators. "Well, the app is really a great tool for the fan to help navigate the event, from getting into the park best methods as far as getting into parking and looking for balloons, looking for vending options. It's really a useful tool."

The first event is the Super Glow Show just after 5 a.m. on Friday morning. Last year because of the weather, the Super Glow Show did not happen, so this will be the first year it is part of the Balloon Race.
