RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- When it comes to Election Day, everyone watches the maps. But they're not just red and blue anymore.

Real Clear Politics offers a great one. You can even customize your own and change the status of states to see what they country would look like with your predictions.

With the Washington Post you can view the map by factors like income, unemployment and voting rules by state.

On 270towin.com you can see past election results and key issues back to 1789.

To get those results, though, voters have to get through the lines and cast their ballots. Video the Vote uses technology to make sure that's a seamless process.

"As a citizen, if I can make some effort to prevent these problems, or document these problems as they're occurring, maybe somewhere along the line we can prevent them from occurring again," said Serwind Netzler, Video the Vote volunteer.

They've been active since 2006 getting video of things such as voter intimidation and illegally requiring identification, but this year they're live-streaming those videos online on Ustream.

While you're on Ustream, you can also check in with the Washington Post. There will be a live camera in the newsroom and reporters will be checking in throughout the day.

If you're on the go and plan on keeping tabs from your smartphone or tablet, there are a few free apps you can use, like NBC Politics. You can keep up with the headlines, and use the real-time election results map from your phone or iPad.

There is no shortage of options.

However you watch, polls start closing out east at 4 p.m. local time.

News 4 will have comprehensive coverage of the election on television starting at 3 p.m., and we'll be giving you updates on MyNews4.com, our Facebook page and Twitter throughout the night.
