RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno hospital says it won't provide further condition updates of several Marines injured in a mortar shell explosion that killed seven comrades during training in Nevada.

Renown Regional Medical Center officials say they're making the change "out of respect for (the) patients' wishes."

Seven members of the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force were killed and seven others were injured, some severely, when a mortar shell accidentally exploded in its firing tube during an exercise late Monday at Hawthorne Army Depot, 140 miles southeast of Reno.

On Friday, the hospital announced one Marine was in serious condition and four others were in fair condition. Earlier in the week, two other Marines were discharged.

Physicians say the Marines mostly suffered blunt force trauma from shrapnel.
