RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Well, we are still here. So far, the Mayans may have been wrong, but that doesn't mean that parents aren't still shook up about the concerns about today in combination with the Connecticut shooting.

All week long, parents have been emailing and calling News 4, saying they are worried about sending their children to school today because there are rumors about "doomsday" school violence.

Washoe County School Police Chief Mieras says classes have gone forward as usual, and he has enough confidence in school security that he sent his own child to school.

Still, Reno police officers and Washoe County sheriff's deputies tell us they will increase their presence near schools.

Technically the Mayans didn't predict the END TIME. WE DID through misinterpretation. Today was just the last day of their calendar. There weren't any Shaman's or Astrologists surviving their demise to continue the calendar. The descendants even said it was like our own 12 month calendar only they went by millennium instead of days or months. Today is just a turn of the page. Can't believe that there was this mass following.
