RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Well, we are still here. So far, the Mayans may have been wrong, but that doesn't mean that parents aren't still shook up about the concerns about today in combination with the Connecticut shooting.
All week long, parents have been emailing and calling News 4, saying they are worried about sending their children to school today because there are rumors about "doomsday" school violence.
Washoe County School Police Chief Mieras says classes have gone forward as usual, and he has enough confidence in school security that he sent his own child to school.
Still, Reno police officers and Washoe County sheriff's deputies tell us they will increase their presence near schools.
