RENO, Nev (Mynews4.com & KRNV) -- Nordstrom, Inc. announced plans on Wednesday to open a Nordstrom Rack at Redfield Promenade in Reno, Nev. The store will move into a 31,000-square-foot space and is expected to open in Spring 2015.
The new home of the Nordstrom Rack is situated on the intersection of US-395, Kietzke Lane and South Virginia Street. The new store will move into a former Borders Books.
Nordstrom Rack stores are known for their bargain prices that typically run 30-70 percent off their regular store prices.
News 4 spoke to nearby businesses in the Redfield Promenade and they say they are very pleased with the news. The new store's location has been vacant for a some time and owners say they will benefit from the extra foot traffic.
"It's a much needed shot in the arm for all of us even mentally to know something new is going in," owner of Sweets Handmade Candies Rebecca Cavendar says. "It just looks like things are finally starting to happen around here and it's such a great location."
Cavendar isn't alone the manager of the Tinder Box Rod Friesen believes his new neighbor will help boost business.
"It looks like things are starting to happen aroudn here," Friesen says. "It's a good feeling."
