RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- 700 hours of intense training has paid off for 17 recruits who will be graduating from the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy today. What better way to celebrate than with a 6 mile run.

Recruits ran from the regional public safety training center located on Spectrum Blvd. to the James D. Hoff Peace Officer Memorial in Idlewild Park yesterday afternoon. They made a pit stop at the Reno arch for a group photo then continued their run to the memorial.

The official graduation ceremony is Friday in the Tuscany Ballroom at the Peppermill Hotel Casino. The graduating class includes eight from the Washoe County Sheriff's office, four from the Reno Police department, three from the University of Nevada, and two from the Sparks Police Department.
