MILWAUKEE, Wisc. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- President Obama spoke about the economy on Monday at Laborfest in Milwaukee. He told hundreds of union members that American workers are better off since he became president.

"We're better off by almost every measure, but look none of this progress has come easy," said Obama. "Every inch of it we have had to fight for, every inch of it we've had to work against a lock step opposition that is opposed to everything we do but it was worth it. Every gray hair is worth it."

The President praised unions for watching out for members, saying if he were looking for a good job, "I'd join a union."

Wages are still terrible. I started work 57 years ago at 1.00 per hour. Over 57 years the minimum wage ($7.25) has increased only $6.25. Average it out. No, workers are worse off since 2002.
