Reno, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com)-- Reno Police are investigating a pedestrian versus vehicle accident on I-80 Eastbound, after an off-duty NHP employee struck and killed a pedestrian.

Reno police say an off duty NHP employee was traveling eastbound on I-80 near the Rock Blvd. exit when the pedestrian ran southbound on I-80. The pedestrian was hit and killed.

The victim's name is not being released until family can be notified.

Reno police are handling the investigation since the driver of the vehicle was an off-duty NHP employee.

Investigators say neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the accident.

Why was a pedestrian on the freeway??? And to be going south, means he was running across the freeway... Seriously, when driving a freeway you don't expect a pedestrial to run in front of you!!!

Who do you think will be blamed for this accident? It won't be the driver. The driver worked for the NHP so who do you think will be to blame? The pedestrian maybe? This is what happens most of the time. It happened to a friend of mines son, he wasn't in the wrong but he was found guilty and my roommate's son had the cops sitting out in front of our shared residence to try the intimidation tactic. We still got an attorney.
