RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- A second crash on Interstate 80 has sent a police officer to the hospital.

According to the Reno Police Department, a suspect driving a truck crashed into a motorcycle officer on Wednesday afternoon, then left the scene. The incident happened around 2 p.m. near Sierra Street.

The victim, described as a 17-year veteran of the Reno Police Department, was heading eastbound on I-80 when a late-1990’s model truck turned into him, causing the crash.

The unidentified officer was taken to Renown with minor injuries, cuts and bruises.

NHP Trooper Dave Gibson confirmed that the Nevada Highway Patrol was able to locate the truck on C Street in Sparks. The vehicle was unoccupied, and NHP is still attempting to locate the suspect.

Traffic is being delayed in the area, as I-80 is down to one lane. The incident is being investigated by NHP.

This crash is unrelated to the earlier motorcycle crash on eastbound I-80.

He's fine, sore and with a little road rash. Overall, he's very fortunate.
