RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- One in three women will be beaten or raped during her lifetime, according to the Nevada Network Against Domestic Violence. That's why some took this Valentine's Day to spread the word about violence against women.
It's an event called the "One Billion Rising," a day of action supported by hundreds of organizations worldwide.
People, schools and organizations were encouraged today to speak up and join with activists from more than 180 countries.
In 2012, more than 5,800 Valentine's Day anti-violence action events took place around the world.
