LASSEN COUNTY, Calif. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- A Mexican national faces charges of growing marijuana and depredation of public lands in the Lassen National Forest.

According to a press release, a federal grand jury returned an indictment accusing Christian Rubio of growing more than 22,000 marijuana plants in the forest. Authorities say the marijuana cultivation caused significant damage to the land and natural resources.

The indictment came after an investigation by the U.S. Forest Service and the Tehama County Sheriff's Office.
