GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (Mynews4.com & KRNV)- "Even when she's away from home she calls." Delores Lane, 81, explains her growing fear as the minutes, hours and days go by and still no word from her daughter. "I just hope they find them one way or another," said Lane.
Delores's daughter Paula and Paula's boyfriend Roderick Clifton have been missing now for nearly a week. They left Citrus Heights, California heading for Gardnerville, Nevada ahead of an incoming storm. Weather hampered search efforts over the weekend. There has been no sign or report of the couple or their vehicle since they left Citrus Heights.
Delores says she did talk to her daughter before they left. "She said she would be home for dinner." Delores played a voice mail Paula left on her phone from earlier that day. In the voice mail, Paula says "see you shortly." "It hurts. It may be the last time I hear her voice," said Delores.
Paula has twin boys. They are eleven years old. Delores did not want us to show recent photos or reveal their names. "I can't stand the thought of them never ever being able to see her again. That's my biggest fear," she said.
The couple was traveling in a dark blue 1989 Jeep Cherokee. They could have been traveling on highway 50, before catching highway 89 to 88 but the family says it's possible they took the Mormon Emigrant Trail. If you know anything you are asked to call Citrus Heights police at 916- 727-5500.
