RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- The City of Reno is inviting the public to a celebration of the grand opening of a new fire station.

An Open House will celebrate the grand opening of the Damonte Ranch Fire Station 12 on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The Open House will feature a free pancake breakfast provided by Damonte Ranch Homes. Complimentary balloons, coloring books and fire hats will be given out to children. Guests will have the opportunity to have their photo taken next to a fire truck and take a tour of the facilities.

In addition, the Reno Fire Department will be giving away free ADA-compliant smoke detectors and alarms specially made to alert hearing-impaired persons.

"We are looking forward to a great turnout at Saturday’s Open House," says Fire Chief Michael Hernandez. "Our department seeks opportunities to engage with the community we protect and to assure our residents that we stand ready to respond to any emergency."

The station is located at 1990 Steamboat Parkway in south Reno. Parking will be available in the RC Wiley lot across the street.
