CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - While the candidates are about to trade jabs at the 2nd presidential debate, Carson City's political parties say they're already feeling some low blows with political vandalism there at an all-time high.

For example, over at Republican headquarters, they have a busted an "out of business" sign. Carol Howell believes they were a political target because both sides were wrecked while other businesses are untouched.

“It also a very desperate attempt at silencing the Republican Party,” she said.

They've also seen a record number of signs stolen. One was found with others in an intersection that still had tire tread marks on it. Republicans have filed a criminal report, but say this issue goes beyond law enforcement.

“Taking away people's first amendment right is more than just a violation. That's a destruction of our whole system,” Howell said.

Democrats suffered some vandalism too. A communist symbol was added to a bumper sticker while it was still on an Obama supporter's car. They’ve also had stolen signs.

“I just kinda shook my head. It's sad,” Jenny Smith said.

One thing both sides agree about though is if this type of division continues, it will have some sharp edged side effects for the country.

“Come on. We're all United States citizens. We all have to work together,” Smith said.

And they hope things can still be patched up before we go from a shattered sign to a broken country.

The rabid polarization of this election and the last four years is a harbinger of things to come. If Obama gets a second term and continues to try to "fundamentally change this country" i think there is the real possibility of tearing it apart with armed revolution. It would be a much uglier game than in the 1770s, but maybe necessary to cleanse this republic and give it a fresh start. Like rebooting when things have become so F*$%&d up you can't correct the problems fast enough to stay ahead of the wave.
