RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Police say a pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by the driver of a Jeep Wrangler at Wells Avenue and the Interstate 80 on-ramp around 8am Feb. 20.

Police say the 24-year-old driver of the Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound on Wells Avenue when he made an eastbound turn onto the I-80 on ramp. As the driver made the turn, he hit the 59-year-old pedestrian who was in a marked crosswalk.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and is currently listed in critical condition at Renown.

Police say the drive said his vision was obscured by the sun, which may have contributed to the collision. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors at this time.

The Reno Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is currently investigating the collision. Anyone with information in regards to this case are urged to contact the Reno Police Department Traffic Division at 334-2141 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
