DONNER LAKE, Calif. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A pedestrian suffered critical injuries after being hit by a cyclist who was under the influence at Donner Lake last night.
Last night at about 9:25 PM, Truckee Police received a report of a collision involving a bicyclist and a pedestrian on Donner Pass Road along Donner Lake. July 4th celebrations had been happening in the area all day and fireworks were about to launch at 9:30 PM.
Officers arrived and found bystanders performing CPR on the adult male pedestrian. Emergency responders took over lifesaving efforts and transported the pedestrian to Tahoe Forest Hospital. The pedestrian was later flown to a Reno area hospital. He remains in a hospital in critical condition with major head trauma, according to TPD.
The bicyclist, Petra Bakker-Borhani, 24, of Truckee, remained at the scene and was uninjured. Police say Bakker-Borhani was cycling under the influence of alcohol and was arrested at the scene. She was booked into the Nevada County Jail on DUI charges.
The name of the pedestrian is not being released at this time. Witnesses reported the pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision as well, but that has not been factually determined at this time.
The collision remains under investigation.
