RENO, NV (MyNews4.com) --October is breast cancer awareness month and even pumpkins are getting pretty in pink to spread awareness.
Renown Children's Hospital invites families to come out to The Summit's Pink Pumpkin Fall Festival.
The festival and Farmer's Market will support breast cancer awareness and will benefit the Renown Health Breast Cancer Patient Assistance Fund.
The event will include live entertainment, fall farmers market vendors, face painting, photo scene, health information booths, bag/gift card giveaways, and of course a pumpkin patch.
Moana Nursery is sponsoring the pink pumpkin patch. The popular pink pumpkins are naturally pink. There will be hundreds of the porcelain doll pumpkins.
Each pumpkin, no matter the size, will be $12 and a percentage of the proceeds will go to help aid the fight against breast cancer.
Last year the event raised more than $1,300 and this year the hope is to raise $1,500.
The Pink Pumpkin Festival will be at the center plaza at The Summit on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public with donations encouraged.
