Plane goes down near Truckee Tahoe Airport, lone pilot being assisted

UPDATE- 4:39PM - According to Care Flight PIO Kurt Althoff, this plane went down in the Martis Peak area in the Tahoe National Forest

Care Flight 3 is on-scene providing medical assistance to the pilot. The pilot was still inside when Care Flight got the scene. Care Flight had to land their chopper an 8th of a mile away from the scene as there was nowhere to land and other ground crews cannot access the crash site. Medical personnel then hiked to the scene of the accident.

The pilot’s condition is unknown at this time.

UPDATE - 3:42PM - Truckee Fire is reporting the plane was a medical airplane that works out of Truckee and was en route back to Truckee from Reno. The plane is a single engine aircraft and went down 10 miles east of Truckee in remote rugged area around 3:05.

Care Flight saw the plane and made contact with 911. Grass Valley Fire says the only person on board was the pilot, and he did not sustain any serious injuries.

Care Flight is arriving on scene now.
