RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- The battle over changing the master plan of Spanish Springs to allow a proposed apartment complex goes before the Regional Planning Commission on Wednesday.

In May, all but one Washoe County Comissioner approved changing the master plan from public land to mixed residential use. A developer is proposing to build an urban-style housing project called Village at the Peak.

The majority of the rural neighbors who live next to the open space are against the plan. They say current two-way roads and lack of public transportation do not support the proposal. They are also concerned with how this development would affect the flood plain.

The meeting is being held in the Washoe County Commission Chambers at 1001 East Ninth Street, starting at 6 p.m.

this has been a railroad job from the very beginning. the commisioners are not doing their job. their own engineers say not to approve it. if I had to guess I would say someone has lined their pockets.
