RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Last night around 10:45pm, The Nevada Highway Patrol, (NHP) was pursuing a stolen silver Toyota Corolla at 120 miles per hour from the area of West McCarran Blvd in Reno, and across the California stateline.

Truckee California Highway Patrol has been advised of the chase, and were standing by at Farad Road on-ramp to westbound I-80. Truckee CHP says they successfully deployed a spike strip as the fleeing suspect vehicle passed at an estimated speed of 100 miles per hour.

Truckee CHP says they engaged in the pursuit as the suspect vehicle began up Iceland grade at an around speed of 40 miles per hour. The suspect struggled to maintain control of his vehicle due to his rapidly deflated and disintegrating tires.

CHP says at around 11pm, the suspect vehicle yielded to the right shoulder, at which point in time, Truckee CHP took the suspect into custody.

Kody Strong, 21, was booked at The Nevada County Sheriff’s station in Nevada City without further incident.

A full, detailed account of this incident was available on Record-Courier (on-line) by searching MSN for "more local news". NV4 and RGJ basically phoned it in. Y is there no real journalism hereabouts? hmmm?

One more thing. "highway speed chase" is a boo-boo. this guy was arrested in Floriston, according to Record-Courier on-line; this story wasn't covered by locakl sources so i had to search 4 it. What is this "Iceland" grade and where is it? Floriston is basically level with Gold Ranch, is it that little hill at the start of the Big Grade? this guy was booked on California charges, maybe washoe County will get it spelled right but i doubt it. debt it. rib-bit. oopsy boopsy.

I was along I-80 at keystone when i saw NHP lights/no siren go by faaast. i was going west anyway, as i did an rpd unit was coming on from keystone with lights and siren. the clown behind me went ahead and used the middle lane, i was off onto shoulder a semi was in right lane, so B&W had to use the far left. Then the guy pulls in behind the chaser. In the 90's i recall on same stretch, a porsche refuse to yield left lane to REMSA, then pull in and tailgate Code 3 unit. all the flashing lights i saw last night-many were rpd, Y do they just need the atten-hut? Even 15 minutes later thay were still rolling off Big Mac Errand. Whatta wannabe bunch!
