ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Elko police are investigating the killing of a 31-year-old man who appears to have been bludgeoned to death.
Lt. Richard Genseal told the Elko Daily Free Press Richard A. Lawson Jr. appeared to have died from repeated blows to the head with a solid object. He says officers found him dead when they were called to a home on Wilson Avenue about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Genseal says Lawson was in a bedroom at the home where six or seven people live, some sleeping on couches. He says no one at the home claimed to have heard anything.
Genseal says the area is known for drug activity. He also says Lawson reported the theft of a camera and laptop computers at the home on July 17, but he doesn't know if that played any role in to the killing.
