RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- New details emerged on Friday about a Reno man that was arrested Wednesday on charges of alleged animal cruelty after animal remains were found in his motel room. News 4 obtained the police report of 24-year-old Jason Brown's arrest.
The report states that between July 4 and July 8, Brown willfully tortured, maimed and killed several dogs and cats at the Super 8 motel in south Reno. It also lists what items were collected inside the motel room.
Brown is being accused of killing at least six dogs at his motel room. The police report obtained from the Reno Justice Court Friday has very graphic details. Four dog heads, seven dog legs, four dog or cat skins, and a dog ear were some of the remains collected inside Brown's motel room.
The report also states the suspect originally checked into the motel on June 27, and had the room paid through July 8. The report said after several days of Brown declining to get his room cleaned, employees of the motel decided to enter the room when Brown was gone and that is when they discovered what he had done.
Although police have not stated where the suspect got the dogs, the report said someone e-mailed police that Brown was killing unwanted dogs he obtained through Craigslist. News 4 spoke with the SPCA of Northern Nevada, who believes animals should never be listed on Craigslist, but instead be given to an animal shelter.
"If we have space available, we'll take animals here," said SPCA Executive Director Tom Jacobs. "The Nevada Humane Society will take animals over there. So you know, there are a lot of opportunities to do, rather than just give it away on Craigslist to somebody you don't have any idea if they are really going to care and take good care of that animal."
The report also said that Brown stated, "he would get angry and go into a rage and was capable of killing dogs."
Police also wrote that the suspect was in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
Brown is currently being held in the Washoe County Jail and his bail has been set at $55,000. Police are also still investigating the case and anyone with information is asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900.
