(NBCNews.com) -- A NBC/Wall Street Journal shows a large number of Americans oppose the nation’s new healthcare law and believe it will produce damaging results.

Forty four percent of respondents call the healthcare law a bad idea, while 31 percent believe it's a good idea.

By a 45 percent to 23 percent margin, Americans say it will have a negative impact on the country's healthcare system rather than a positive one.

And 30 percent of respondents think it will have a negative impact on their families. Just 12 percent think it will be positive, and a majority -- 53 percent -- don't believe it will have an impact one way or another.

On the basis of those polled, the majority (44%) oppose the bill. I think the title is perfectly accurate if the reader has the aptitude to comprehend it. Aside from that nonsense, the whole idea sounded great until people found out they were having to pay for it on a monthly basis, and the cheapest options are still over $100 a month for the average individual.

The title is misleading. "Most" means a majority. I'm only seeing that 44% of Americans oppose. A more accurate title is "More Americans oppose Obamacare than support it." But I guess a headline like that doesn't get clicks. The real story is the huge number of Americans who are on the fence because they still don't fully understand the plan. That's what lawmakers should be addressing.
