RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Animal advocates from across the state are lending support for Assemblyman Mike Sprinkle's bill that will require mandatory counseling for anyone convicted of animal abuse. The bill will require the abuser to pay for their own counseling.

It was sparked by the case of Jason Brown who is being held in the Reno Court pending trial on animal cruelty charges. He is accused of dismembering seven animals.

Brown is due in court at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday for a status hearing on his case.

What is meant by counselling? This person needs much more than counselling, he is psychotic. Yes counselling is needed in MOST cases but long long before it escalates to the serious nature of this case. What is needed however, is for Legislators and Law Enforcement to receive counselling on the seriousness of animal abuse. Even Police today SHOULD understand psychology at least at the collegiate level. The title of this article should be "POSSIBLE BILL REQUIRES PROSECUTION and MANDITORY PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATION IN ALL ANIMAL ABUSE CASES"

They are beyond any type of "help", redemption or counseling. They need to be removed from society, which is a pathetic pile of it anyway.

I don't want to sound negative, but counseling will not stop them, psychologically they feel nothing. They need to be "registered" animal abusers just like the sex offenders in this country, put on a "do not adopt" list, so if anyone looks them up, their face is there saying animal cruelty. Let's get that bill going too.
