5:35PM - According to Jane Tors with UNR, The power outage began at 12pm this afternoon. Some buildings had powered restored by mid-afternoon and the rest just before 5pm this evening.
It only affected about a quarter of the campus, or 14 buildings. Some were facility buildings and some had classrooms in them.
It's unknown what caused the problem, but it was a UNR power problem, not NV Energy, although NV Energy crews came out to help assist.
3:15pm - Savidge says the power is still out, but only in select buildings. NV Energy crews are out with UNR crews in the southern loop of the campus trying to troubleshoot the power system and restore the power. They’re thinking that it will take another half hour.
Savidge says they are not sure if it’s an NV Energy problem or UNR power problem.
Natalie Savidge with UNR has responded, saying facilities personnel are now working to figure out the cause of the power outage and power should be back on within the next couple hours.
RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- NV Energy is working on restoring power at UNR and at a Stead university facility.
Power has been out at the Stead facility since yesterday due to a damaged fire pole.
NV Energy is currently working on these outages.
