LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 56-year-old Nevada prisoner died at a Las Vegas hospital over the weekend a few days after arriving there.
Officials with the Nevada Department of Corrections say Martin Lomas died Sunday at Valley Hospital. He had been there since Friday.
Corrections officials say they have requested an autopsy.
Lomas had been serving a sentence of five years to life in prison after being convicted of sexual assault and kidnapping in Washoe County.
Authorities say he first entered the prison system in 1992 and has been released several times on parole. His most recent term in prison began in November after he was arrested on suspicion of violating parole, failing to register as a sex offender and possessing a controlled substance.
