RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) – Washoe County schools will go on Fall Break for the first time next week and schools and organizations are planning programs to keep kids active during their time off.

News 4 met with the principal of Echo Loder Elementary school Dina Ciaramella.

The elementary school is offering programs Monday through Thursday next week for students.

Ciaramella says 60 students are signed up for each day.

She says Monday will be "Science Day," Tuesday "Math Day," Wednesday "Health Day," and Thursday is "Art Day."

We spoke with the district and they say schools are on their own as far as planning programs for the break.

We're told the high schools are mainly focusing on ongoing credit recovery and high school proficiency exam preparation.

Ciaramella says the new break schedule is a positive change for the district.

The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows is also offering programs next week.

Price is $40 a child for the entire week. Families need to sign up their kids by Friday, Oct. 11.
