RPD arrests armed robbery suspect

RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The suspect of an armed robbery at an area Yogurt shop has been arrested by the Reno Police Department.

On Sunday afternoon, a white male entered the Honey Treat Yogurt at 5000 Smithridge Drive in Reno and presented a note claiming to have a weapon, even though one was not seen. After being given an undisclosed amount of money by the stores clerk, the suspect fled the area.

Responding Reno Police Officers were in the area of Neil Road and Catalina when they spotted the suspect, who ran from pursuing officers. The suspect was eventually located hiding in a garage at a nearby residence and, after briefly resisting officers, he was placed into custody.

The male suspect -- who was positively identified as 20-year-old Travis Mattoon by victims at Honey Treat Yogurt -- still had the money from the business on his person.
