RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Mayberry Drive reconstruction project is moving forward, but now without a roundabout.

Friday morning the Regional Transportation Commission board shot down the proposed roundabout in a public meeting. This decision comes after RTC sought community feedback to address the proposed roundabout at Hunter Lake Drive and Mayberry Drive.

"Based on...what the public told us they wanted out there, the board gave staff direction today to continue to proceed with this project, but without the roundabout concept included -- most likely the existing traffic signal will be replaced at this location," said RTC Public Information Officer Joe Harrington.

While all plans for the location are preliminary, they still call for replacement of the current traffic signal.
