Race to End Domestic Violence raises money for Tahoe Safe Alliance

RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Reno community is invited to help raise money for an important cause on Saturday, April 19 at the Race to End Domestic Violence.

The 5K and 10k race will take place during the Safe & Healthy Homes Fair at Idlewild Park. Race registration is $30, and $10 of each entry will benefit Tahoe Safe Alliance, an organization committed to decreasing the incidences of domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse in the North Lake Tahoe area, including Truckee, California.

Reno City Councilmember Hillary Schieve will deliver the keynote address to start the event. In addition, food, music, games, face painting, a bounce house and booths with information about community resources will be free to all attendees. After the races conclude, children younger than 12 can participate in a free fun run.

The fair begins at 8 a.m., the 5K and 10K begin at 9 a.m., and the children’s fun run begins at 10 a.m. Same-day registration will be available until 8:30 a.m. on race day.

Early registrants can pick up their packets from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 18 at Eclipse Pizza, located on 3950 Mayberry Drive in Reno. Racers will receive a 20-percent discount at Eclipse on April 18 and 19 when they present their bib. For more information about the fair or race, call 775-250-3459.
