RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- After a neck-and-neck Facebook promotion race, the Canine Rehabilitation Center and Sanctuary (CRCS) and the Nevada Diabetes Association (NDA) will both receive $10,000 donations from Reno Dodge's Causes We Care For program after Reno Dodge owner Don Weir decided voting for the two non-profits was so close they both deserved to win.
Originally, Reno Dodge pledged to give $10,000 to the charity receiving the most votes in a contest held on the popular social networking site Facebook. Friday, the day the voting was to end, the CRCS and NDA were running neck and neck, well above more than 32 other charities.
The CRCS is dedicated to helping local dogs recover from trauma, such as abuse, neglect, long-term confinement, and others special cases. The program provides rescue, recovery, socialization, training, and placement for dogs that can't be placed by shelters or other rescue organizations.
The NDA improves the lives of local children and adults affected by diabetes by providing free services that stress education and prevention, such as 2-week teen camps, and family support and education programs.
