RENO, Nev. (AP, & KRNV) -- In a press conference Wednesday morning, Reno mayor Bob Cashell announced his endorsement of Ray "Pez" Pezonella for the city's next mayor. The two-term mayor chose Pezonella, a civil engineer, from among 18 candidates vying for position.

But Cashell says he's concerned now momentum may be building for candidate Eddie Lorton, who was behind a court challenge that knocked a pair of favorites out of the race, Jessica Sferraza and Dwight Dortch. A judge ruled limits on their city council terms also apply to mayor.

Ray Pezonella is an advocate for economic development, downtown revitalization, and capital improvements throughout the city. For more on Pezonella and other Reno mayoral candidates, watch News 4's Reno Mayoral Candidate Interview series by clicking here.

Reno: Watch out for the "capital improvements". This covers a lot of territory. Carson City is getting a sales tax increase to support "capital improvements". but the CC Board of Supervisors isn't going to say what these "capital improvements" will be. My bet is that one of them is the new library, which was defeated by the voters.
