RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Dozens of community leaders were dunked Thursday, all for a good cause.

You may call it the ultimate ice bucket challenge, leaders of local event and community organizations were soaked in a dunk tank full of ice set up outside Pinocchio's Bar & Grill.

Reno Mayor Bob Cashell helped organize the event to directly benefit ALS of Nevada. Officials said more than $20,000 was raised in four hours. And Mayor Cashell said this is another positive way to help spread awareness of the disease. “It's been a lot of fun, it's going to a great cause, and it's great to have charities joining in to help another charity,” said Cashell.

The Mayor also said they beat their fundraising goal by $5000. The director of ALS of Nevada was also at the event and took the donation home with her Thursday.
