RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- In the wake of Tesla's big decision, two local casinos charged ahead by installing stations for the electric cars.

Both the Atlantis and Peppermill Hotel Casinos in Reno recently installed Tesla charging stations on their properties.

Tesla owners can use any regular electric vehicle charger with an adapter, but these are designed specifically for Tesla and typically charge the cars in about four hours.

Peppermill Marketing and Operations Director Bill Hughes says he's excited that Tesla is investing in our community. He says the diversification is not only good for our economy, it's also good for our image.

"I think having Tesla coming, having tech come, having the University more involved in things, I think those are all positive things for the image of Reno. I think [it's] an important thing, that people see our city migrating toward something more than it used to be," says Hughes.

News 4 will take a closer look at ways the Peppermill and Atlantis are embracing Tesla coming up on News 4 at 8 p.m. in primetime.
