Renown doctor named one of the best in the nation

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & -- John Rothrock, MD, Medical Director, Renown Institute for Neurosciences, has been recognized by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. in its prestigious guide of the nation's top 1 percent of medical specialists, America's Top Doctors.

Dr. Rothrock has received multiple accolades and has been cited in America's Top Doctors for the past 12 years as well as Best Doctors in America for 10 years. He was also recognized as one of the Top 20 Neurologists in America by Men’s Health in 2007 and by Women's Health in 2008.

To be selected for this exclusive honor, physicians must be nominated by their peers. Nominations are open to all board certified MDs and DOs and tens of thousands of physicians are nominated each year. Nominated physicians are then screened and selected by the Castle Connolly physician-led research team. Nominees are selected based on criteria including medical education, training, hospital appointments and much more. Only physicians among the top 1 percent in their specialties are selected for inclusion in America's Top Doctors.

With more than 35 years of experience, Dr. Rothrock specializes in headache and stroke and is board certified in neurology, vascular neurology and headache. He joined Renown Health as Medical Director for Renown Institute for Neurosciences in 2012.

Dr. Rothrock previously served as Vice Chair and Medical Director of Neurology at the University of Alabama. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia and completed his internship and residency at the University of Arizona. Dr. Rothrock has been instrumental in developing new therapies for stroke and headache.
