LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada Rep. Joe Heck is apologizing after his 16-year-old son's profanity- and slur-laced Twitter feed came to light.

The Republican congressman issued a statement saying he was "extremely disappointed" by the high schooler's postings online, and says he and his wife had addressed the "family matter" directly with the teen.

Heck says the boy "also apologizes for his offensive behavior."

The boy's public tweets, sent over several months to about 300 followers, surfaced in a Buzzfeed article published Thursday. They included foul language and slurs toward gays, minorities and women.

The congressman's statement says that kind of language has never been permitted in his house.

Other posts bash President Barack Obama, and in one, the teen suggests he has the inside scoop on the intelligence committee's activities.

He is the second Republican Congressman in two days apologizing for his sons "bad" tweets. Both of them attacked gays and minorities-geeze I wonder where they came up with those attacks? The Republicans only stand for white old men. That's why they're going to continue to lose national elections.
