RENO, Nev. (AP) — Coach Brian Polian's first recruiting class at Nevada is heavy on defense, including a star linebacker who is the nephew of future NFL Hall of Famer Junior Seau.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Ian Seau is among 21 players who have verbally committed to Nevada.
Seau started his career at Kansas State. Last year, he was a junior college All-American at Southern California's Grossmont College, where he had 25.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks in 10 games.
The newspaper reports Nevada also landed Beau Hershberg, a star linebacker from Granite Bay, Calif. Scout.com says he's one of the top 150 prospects on the West Coast.
Polian planned a formal announcement later Wednesday regarding players who have signed formal letters of commitment. He was hired in December after Chris Ault retired.
