Reward offered for information in UNR mineral theft

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & -- Secret Witness is offering a reward in the amount of $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect(s) wanted in connection with a theft of the mineral Stibnite from the Keck Museum on the University of Nevada campus.

On April 16, 2013 the UNR Police Department was notified by Mackay Mines Keck Museum that a mineral on display at the museum was missing. This mineral is called Stibnite. Stibnite is known for its sharpness and stunning metallic luster of the crystals and has a value of approximately $30,000.00.

Police have learned that this mineral might have been removed on April 8, 2013 and could possibly be in two pieces now. The mineral was 15” by 10” by 8” and weighed approximately 25-30 pounds.

UNR Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect. Anyone having information relating to these crimes or the suspect should contact the UNR Police Department at 784-4013, Secret Witness at 322-4900,, or text your tip to 847 411 (TIP 411) Keyword - SW.
