This morning at approximately 10:48 am, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were alerted to a crash involving a vehicle that rolled over near the northbound off ramp to Moana Lane in Reno.  When troopers arrived on scene minutes later, they observed a white Isuzu SUV on its right side,  not far from the right-of-way chain link fence on the east side of the freeway off ramp.  There was also a grey colored Nissan SUV parked near the center concrete barrier on the northbound side of freeway.  The driver of the Isuzu was being attended by other motorists who had stopped to render assistance.

After Nevada Highway Patrol spoke to both motorists, it was believed the driver of the Isuzu had been traveling north in the far left northbound lane of I-580 by a 42-year-old female from Reno.  Troopers say the driver of the Nissan was traveling northbound in the middle of the three northbound travel lanes slightly ahead of the Isuzu.  The driver of the Nissan failed to observe the Isuzu as she transitioned into the left lane causing the driver of the Isuzu to steer left to avoid a collision.  The Isuzu struck the center barrier dividing the north and southbound travel lanes before veering right and traveling across all three lanes.

The vehicle continued to travel onto the northbound Moana off ramp before rolling over as it departed the east side of the freeway. The Isuzu rolled over several times as it traveled through the chain link right-of-way fence and came to rest on its right side.  The lone female driver crawled out of her vehicle and had an injury to her head.  Reno Fire Department and REMSA personnel assisted with treatment at the scene and the injured driver was transported to Reno Regional Medical Center shortly thereafter.  The other motorist was not injured and received a citation from Nevada Highway Patrol for making an unsafe lane change.  No other vehicles were involved.

The northbound off ramp was closed shortly after the crash to stage emergency vehicles, secure roadway evidence and to remove the rolled over SUV.  The lane was re-opened shortly before noon.

UPDATE ---11:15am

According to NHP Trooper Chuck Allen, there was a two vehicle collision on I-580 North near the Moana St. off-ramp that resulted in one vehicle rolling over on the off-ramp and onto property off the highway.

The female driver of the vehicle that rolled over has been transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Moana Road off-ramp from I-580 North will be closed for at least an hour according to Allen, as emergency crews work to clear the scene.

Traffic is slowed down around the area, but the accident is not blocking any traffic.

There is a single vehicle rollover accident on I-580 Northbound near the Moana exit.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the vehicle is on the east shoulder of the highway and not blocking traffic. There are injuries, but it's unknown to who and what the extent of the injuries are, as NHP officers and emergency personnel just arrived on scene. Traffic may be slowed down in the area.
