SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Sparks Police Department responded to a disturbance early Friday morning after receiving information that a suspect was running around an area apartment complex with a baseball bat and yelling.
Upon arriving at the 300 block of 3rd street, officers located the baseball bat, and then found the suspect's apartment. When officers tried to speak with the suspect, he slammed the door on them. The officers walked a short distance away and heard the suspect yelling again. Officers approached the suspect from the rear, who was standing at the top of a stairway yelling to the floor below in a argumentative and demeaning manner, according to a SPD press release.
As officers reached the top of the stairwell, they saw the suspect with his back turned to them, pointing a gun in the direction of the bottom story of the apartments. Verbal commands were given to the suspect as he turned on the officers and jumped back into his residence. The suspect refused to exit the residence and the Sparks Police Department SWAT team was called. After over an hour of attempting to negotiate with the suspect, he exited the residence and was taken into custody.
A Search Warrant was obtained for the residence and the firearm was located inside. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Sparks Resident, Kyle James McClure. McClure was charged with Obstructing with the use of a Firearm, Challenge to Fight with the use of a Firearm, and Drawing a Firearm in a Threatening Manner. He is being held on $30,500.00 bail.
