CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval isn't taking "no" for an answer.

Sandoval has sent a second letter to Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz requesting a meeting to talk about Department of Energy activities in Nevada, including plans to haul canisters of radioactive waste from Oak Ridge, Tenn., to the Nevada National Security Site northwest of Las Vegas.

The Republican governor first wrote to Moniz back in June but has gotten no response.

In another letter dated Friday, Sandoval again requests a meeting "as soon as possible."

He further raises questions about a recent DOE proposal to reduce funding that supports state oversight of waste management at the site.

Members of Nevada's congressional delegation also have been pushing the DOE for answers to questions over the nuclear waste shipments.
